Thierry Ascione easily advanced to the second round of the polish tournament by beating in two straight sets the Spaniard player Pere Riba 6-1, 6-1. On the contrary it is over for Nicolas Devilder who lost in threes sets 5-7, 6-2, 7-5 against Sergio Roitman (seeded 6th) and for Gael Monfils who retired while he was led 6-3, 2-0 by Jan Mertl.
